Brushed Stainless Steel Sheet Overview

The difference between the brushed stainless steel sheet and the polished stainless steel sheet is that the wire drawing process forms a regular and uniform surface pattern on the surface of the workpiece. General brushed patterns have pinstripes and circles. The polishing process is to make the surface of the workpiece completely flat, without any flaws, looking smooth and translucent, with a mirror surface.

In terms of processing procedures, the wire drawing process does repetitive movements on the equipment, and the polishing process is the trajectory of the plane polishing machine. The two are different in principle and different in practice.

If a stainless steel sheet needs to be both drawn and polished, how should the front and back processes be carried out?

From this situation, from the influence of wire drawing and polishing on the surface treatment and the process principle, it is not difficult for us to draw the conclusion that the wire drawing is first polished. Only after the surface of the workpiece is smoothed, the wire drawing can be carried out, because only in this way will the wire drawing effect be good and the wire drawing lines will be uniform. Polishing is used for brushing and priming. In a word, if you first draw and then polish, not only the drawing effect is poor, but also the good drawing pattern will be completely ground off by the grinding disc during polishing, so there is no so-called drawing effect.

Precautions for brushed stainless steel sheet:

1.Drawing (Grinding):

Usually, the surface state of stainless steel surface after mechanical friction processing is straight (also called frosted), including drawing, lines and ripples.
Processing quality standard: the texture is uniform in thickness, the texture on all sides of the product is natural and beautiful according to the design and construction requirements, and the product is allowed to have slightly messy texture at the bending position, which does not affect the appearance.

Drawing Process:

(1) The particles formed by different types of sandpaper are also different. The larger the type of sandpaper, the finer the grains and the shallower the grains. Conversely, the smaller the size of the sandpaper, the coarser the sand and the deeper the grains formed. Therefore, the sandpaper model must be noted on the engineering drawings.
(2) The wire drawing is directional: it must be indicated on the engineering drawing whether it is straight or horizontal (indicated by double arrows)
(3) The drawing surface of the drawn workpiece must not have a raised part, otherwise the raised part will become flat.
Note: In general, electroplating, oxidation, etc. must be carried out after drawing. Such as: iron electroplating, aluminum oxidation. Due to the defects of the wire drawing machine, when the small workpiece and the workpiece have relatively large holes, the design of the wire drawing fixture must be considered to avoid the poor quality of the workpiece after wire drawing.

2.The function and precautions of the wire drawing machine

Before drawing, the drawing machine must be adjusted to a suitable height according to the thickness of the material. The slower the belt speed, the finer the grind, and vice versa. If the feed depth is too large, it will burn the surface of the workpiece, so each feed should not be too much, it should be about 0.05m.
If the pressure of the cylinder is too small, the workpiece will not be pressed tightly, and the workpiece will be thrown out by the centrifugal force of the roller. Too high pressure will increase the grinding resistance and affect the grinding effect.
